Bouvardia ternifolia --Firecracker Bush-- Guava Sprouts in the fall andCalled Trompetilla in Spanish after the shape of the blossoms. Very attractive shrub, 2 5', with shiny, dark green leaves and dramatic firework clusters of trumpet shaped red blossoms. Wonderful hummingbird attractant! Blooms repeatedly from late spring to first frost, drought tolerant, full sun to part shade, likes well drained soil. Deciduous (drops its leaves) in zones with freezes, and is root hardy even in colder locations than central Texas.
